Corby celebrates 15 years of serving the local community and helping shoppers save £76million

Company Shop Corby was the UK’s first Company Shop outlet, having first opened its doors on Princewood Road in 2011. Since then, the store has:

  • Redistributed over 77 million units of surplus products

  • Saved just under 100,000 tonnes of Co2

  • Saved £76million for members

The leading redistributor and retailer of surplus products sells items from 800 retailers, manufacturers and brands to its members through its discounted supermarkets throughout the UK.

Tracey Nichols, store manager says: “We’re delighted to have welcomed thousands of members into our store over the last 15 years and help them save so much on their shopping. We’re proud to be part of the local community and help stop perfectly good surplus products from going to waste. Thank you to everyone who has supported our store since we opened.”

Company Shop Group’s unique model has been in operation since 1974, when it first started opening staff shops on partners' factory sites. Since then, it has invested heavily to maximise the value of goods initially perceived as waste. Paying its growing portfolio of partners for surplus stocks means an immediate reinvestment back into their businesses, and the company continues to invest in the redistribution of surplus products, having just opened a huge frozen distribution centre in Yorkshire.

Free membership to Company Shop is open to numerous key worker categories, including those in the NHS, care services, emergency services, FMCG supply chain, British Armed Forces, prison services, and those in receipt of means tested benefits, as well as being open to those employed by charities.

Tracey concludes: “I would urge anyone who is eligible to sign up as a member – the savings can be really quite considerable. Here’s to the next 15 years!”
